Arrival day Due to not having a public holiday the thursday before, the Friday was set as travel day allowing all of us to arrive until dinner at the IBIS hotel in Falaise. |
A great day out in Normandy
In the morning, our first trip took us west to a typical local “Cidrerie”, a place where cider is manufactured. And not only cider: they also had a distillery on site where the famous Calvados is produced. We were shown the whole process and had the opportunity to try the produce (only very little of course!). Then the roadbook guided us through valleys and over hills, along ancient castles, Louis-quatorze-era chateux and through picturesque villages. Although there were a lot of suggestions for scenic experiences, we had no time scheduling as to meeting points. Everybody could drive and stop wherever they liked, giving us a lot of freedom to explore the fabulous Normany countryside. |
Farewell drive On the Sunday, we started a drive back east, as most of us were either heading for either the ferry ports or the Seine bridge at Le Havre. So we went up towards the coast, again passing many beautiful spots which invited us to short stops. Photos were taken, talks held ant then we finally reached a versy special pub just south of the river from Le Havre. It’s called “Classic Cars and Pub” and - as you can imagine - not only offered us a good lunch but also hosts a classic car exibition. Then we crossed the Seine river and headed back home. |
